This is one example of the genus Troides. Members of this genus range from Southeast Asia in the Oriental Region through part of the Australian Region. Hypolitus has more ornamental hindwings than most Troides species which are typically black or brown and yellow only. The forewings of all Troides species are very similar and many species have the veins outlined with lighter shades of gray or brown. This pair is from Indonesia. The male is at the top and the female is at the bottom.
